From Creating Innovators: The Making of Young People Who Will Change The World
… the essential elements of educating young people to become innovators: the value of hands-on projects where students have to solve a real problem and demonstrate mastery; the importance of learning to draw on academic content from multiple disciplines to solve a problem; learning to work in teams.
We seem to miss the value of hands on projects. For some reason, it is getting lost in the shuffle. In fact, when I was running an innovation cell at NTTF (Nettur Technical Training facility), the diploma students had more hands on programming experience than CS students in engineering colleges. How can we change that?
