- I am fascinated by lists. So when I saw The New Yorker’s – The Hundred Best Lists of All Time, I could not resist. It is a fascinating list of lists. Here are 7 of my favorites.
- Satchel Paige’s “How to Keep Young” (A short list of 5 tips full of humor)
- Benjamin Franklin’s “Thirteen Virtues” (Can’t believe he made it when he was 20!)
- Modern Library’s “100 Best Novels” (It has two lists – a board’s list and the reader’s list which includes a book with a one letter title!)
- Casey Kasem’s “American Top 40” (I am sentimental about this list. When I discovered it on my first visit to US, used to listen to it every weekend. I recorded all the hundred songs at the end of 1977 and we were playing it for several years at home back in India. AT40 celebrated its 42nd Anniversary on July 4, 2012!)
- Billboard’s “Top 100” (When I grew up a bit more (I mean, culturally), I discovered this list)
- The Dewey Decimal System (Looking at this list shows, how much more there is to know and keeps you humble. I wonder how frequently it gets updated.)
- The Periodic Table of Elements (Because it is one of the most brilliantly organized piece of information, I have seen)
There are lots of other lists, you may like. This list is mostly for US, but others can benefit from them too. For example, there are lists useful for businesses like Dow Jones, S&P 500, NASDAQ, Russel 2000, Fortune 500, etc..
This list definitely goes into my list of lists as well.
