In his blog, Ray Ozzie explains the role of RSS as the glue of internet applications. Microsoft is proposing compelling extensions to RSS. First the Simple Sharing Extensions. Now a standard for wiring web applications with RSS. Ray says that it is the “Unix Pipe of the Internet”.
The idea was based on using a simple and consistent user model to wire-the-web that would assist individuals in creating their own mesh of interconnections – both web-to-web and web-to-PC.
