How do you find out little bits of information, knowledge and memes that you ought to know but don’t really do. If you have the magic formula or even a few tips, please share them with us here, in comments or put it in your own blog and just ping us.
I was reflecting on this as I just discovered The “D Programming Language”. It looks cool. Everything Java and C# have but the advantage of compiled code (no run-time). Thanks to Slashdot and doggdot.us I found this link. It does look cool. Check it out. Will try it out and report back later.

I try to keep track of a variety of RSS feeds. Of course, you have to be interested in the fields that these people are blogging about, but you can draw upon the expertise of others. They keep track of all the latest developments, the good stuff, and can point you to sites you would never have searched for. As your title implies – google has everything, but you still have to know what you’re looking for!
One of the ways i have found to be useful is participating in a varied number of discussion forums.
Generally the Top ones keep saying the same thing over and over again. but if you can spread yourself among the lesser known ones, you will find yourself looking at a varied number of resources, information which the top ones would not have “considered” talking about.
Another one is subscrbing to a variety of RSS Feeds.
most of the sites have them nowadays and if you “sort and categorize” them via a software like FeedDemon or using Google Reader, then you can check them at your leisure or over the weekend and without having to visit a zillion sites you keep yourself updated 🙂
